Monday to Friday
6:00 am
Doors, and the first pot
Drip is ready before the lights are properly on. Cinnamon rolls come out of the oven between six and half past, and on a good morning they are gone by eight. If you want one, this is the hour.
7:15 am
The commute
Twenty minutes of people who are already late. Order at the counter, not the app. Two hands on the espresso machine, so a drip and a roll takes ninety seconds and a four-drink order takes six minutes. We would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.
9:30 am
The quiet stretch
The best two hours in the building. Six tables free, an outlet at four of them, and nobody hurrying you. If you are working, come now.
11:30 am
Lunch, such as it is
Quiche, two soups, and whatever the breakfast burrito count is by then. We are not a restaurant and we do not pretend to be one. Lunch is over when the case is empty.
2:45 pm
School lets out
Loud, cheerful, mostly frappes. If you are looking for a quiet table, this is the hour to skip. It lasts about forty minutes.
5:00 pm
We close
The espresso machine goes down at ten to. Saturday runs 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and is a slower, better version of the whole thing. We are shut Sunday.
Photograph to be shot
The counter at 6:40 am, from the customer side at standing height. Rolls still on the tray, one barista in frame, not looking at the camera. Daylight, no flash, wide enough to catch the case and the board behind it.

The loft is a room you can have
Upstairs seats eighteen around one long table, with its own stair and a door that shuts. Book clubs, staff meetings, a baby shower on a Sunday when the shop is otherwise closed. There is no booking form. Ring the shop, ask for the day you want, and somebody will write it in the book by the register.
Call (816) 555-0161 and ask for the loft.
